How the deposit goes

Choose card payment, enter the number, expiry and security code, then approve it in your banking app. The confirmation belongs to your bank rather than to the betting site, which is what stops a stolen number being enough by itself.

Why a card gets declined

A refusal almost always comes from the issuing bank rather than the operator. Trying the same card again seldom changes the answer: some banks block gambling merchant categories outright, and the block is lifted by asking them, not by retrying. Somebody else's card fails by design, because it is checked against your identity.

Credit versus debit

A debit card spends money you have; a credit card spends money you do not. Funding a betting account from credit is how a budget stops being a budget, and the deposit limits in the account exist to keep it one.

Getting the money back out

Not every cashier returns money to the card it came from. The usual route is a bank transfer to an account in your name, so read the withdrawal options before depositing rather than after winning. The line on your statement carries the operator's name or its payment processor's, worth knowing if somebody else sees that account.

One question to settle before paying with credit instead of debit: some issuers treat a gambling deposit as a cash advance rather than an ordinary purchase, which carries a different fee and starts charging interest immediately. That is a question for your bank, not for the cashier, and it is worth one call before the first deposit.
